Linda Kay Peyser Fellman

The words from the song "Those Were The Days" certainly applies to the way I feel as I reflect back to my days at  A.B. Davis High School!  They were the days of carefree-living, with no worries about 'child abduction', 'anthrax', or 'terrorism'.  My biggest worries were whether I'd get a date for the prom or where to apply to college.  After graduation, I attended two years at  Boston University and then I finished my education at Hunter College, with a degree in education. My teaching ‘career’ lasted just one year!

I married Steve, my high school 'sweetheart' from New Rochelle, in 1959, and we moved to Silver Spring, Maryland soon thereafter. We raised three sons here and our life has been mostly smooth-sailing, with a few bumps along the way. When our sons started school full-time, I started a home-based business.  'Poems Unlimited' was launched.  There was no computer back then, but 'word –of- mouth' helped my business to flourish. Today it reaches out across the country, thanks to the internet. I write poems for every occasion and it has been an extremely rewarding experience.

In addition to my poem business, I make jewelry from antique buttons under the name "Button Up." The jewelry was, in the past, sold at stores but now I mostly sell it at local juried craft shows.  When Steve asks me what I want to do when we retire and I laughingly tell him that "I've been retired for years!" Steve still works full time as an attorney in D.C.

In addition to our three sons, we now enjoy spending time with our five grandchildren. There is a saying: "Life begins when the kids marry and the dog dies", but obviously this saying does not apply to me. I am a fanatic animal lover, and at present we have two dogs. I do volunteer work at our local animal shelter and I also donate my time working at our local hospital's Thrift Store.

Summers find us at our condo on the Chesapeake Bay, where we together enjoy boating and exploring the little towns on the Eastern Shore. In the winter we spend three months in Deerfield Beach, Florida. It's a 'hard life' "dahlinks", but someone has to do it!
