Barbara Robbins Ecker
I graduated A.B. Davis in 1957. Preciously I had gone to Newton High School in Massachusetts. Davis was a big change for me as my friends and some of my family lived in the Boston area. However, I did have some good teachers in school and became interested in biology because of them. For a few years I did research in biology while employed by Columbia University. I stopped work and raised two sons (Marc and David) with my husband Donald. Some years later I became his photographer in the field of fishing. His second career was as an outdoor writer for the Record newspaper and I took all the pictures. We traveled to fish camps here and in other countries. When we cane home I edited the pictures and we did slide shows for outdoor groups like Trout Unlimited. We were active in environmental groups also. I developed an interest in mycology and joined a club to learn how to identify mushrooms and also made new friends. I have remained active in that interest, but my poor sight limits me. I do belong to my Simmons alumnae club and keep up with the college news. My husband and I have always had a full cultural life, attending philharmonic concerts and the opera.
