Felicia (Cookie) Scharaga Markhoff
My husband, Harris Markhoff (Davis’56), and I have been married 46 years, (47 in June). He was my date to our Senior Prom. We have three children and seven grandchildren who are wonderful and the joy of our lives. After graduating college and graduate school, I taught History at Lincoln High School in Yonkers for 3 years. I retired to raise our family and became involved in synagogue life and education soon after we moved from Mt. Vernon to Pound Ridge, NY, in 1969. I taught in various Religious Schools, and took many courses and practicum sponsored by the Union of Reform Judaism. In 1983 I became Principal of the Religious School of Congregation B’nai Yisrael in Armonk, New York. I retired after 18 years. After a brief hiatus, I am working as a B’nai Mitzvah tutor, mentoring teachers at various Congregational schools, serving on The Board of Jewish Education of Greater New York, the Board of Trustees of my synagogue, and various committees and sub committees in Westchester. So much for retirement. Come spring, summer, and fall, Harris and I can be found on our sailboat, MY COOKIE, cruising Long Island Sound and the coast of Maine.
