Joanne Steinberg Lerner
After graduating Davis I attended Adelphi College where I majored in art. I married my husband, Stan, at the end of my sophomore year. We’ve been married for 47 years and had two dons. Sadly, my older son, Larry, passed away suddenly in 1987. My son, Scott, is a stockbroker in partnership with his father at Morgan Stanely. He and his wife have three children, Sela, who is six and twins, Talia and Derrin, who will be two in December. Being a grandmother is the most fun! I am very lucky that they live nearby and I get to see them every day. I have been very active with the Jewish Federation here in South Jersey, as well as Allied Jewish Appeal. I have been a board member of our Federation and I was a charter member of the National Young Women’s Leadership Committee in 1978, when it was first formed, until 1980. I have been to Israel numerous times for fundraising missions, and even led one group. For almost thirty years I have owned and shown Tennessee Walking Horses. My current horse, whi is now retired from the show ring, was ranked seventh in the country the last year we competed. Now I just ride for fun. My granddaughter Sela shares my love of horses. She’s been sitting on a horse since she was eight months old! Last March I bought her a Welsh pony that she is learning to ride. I’m looking forward to the day when she’s accomplished enough for the two of us to ride together. I also am quite busy with my art work. I do animal portraits, mostly horses, dogs and cats. Through my web site my work is in homes all across the country! I have had the honor of being named “Best of Philly” from Philadelphia Magazine. I love animals and really enjoy painting them.
