Arlene Wood Larson

I think that every one can agree that the past fifty years (eek!) have flown by! After graduation I attended New Paltz for a year, and then worked as a "mathematical analyst" for the now defunct Royal McBee Corp. I married Bill Hankinson in 1961 and in 1963 had my son Gregory. We lived in Armonk, NY for sixteen years where I worked as a real estate broker. The marriage ended in Menlo Park, CA after twenty-one years. I then moved back to New York where I reconnected with Leland T. Larson, son of Jordan L. Larson, superintendent of Mt Vernon schools, and we married in 1983. After Leland graduated in 1953 he attended Iowa State, joined the Air Force, married and had four daughters. A year after we married our family of 7 turned into 8 when Leland and I had our daughter (surprise!) Laura in 1984. Leland was a pilot for Pan American at the time, so while Laura was young she and I traveled the world with Leland on his trips. In 1988 we left our home in Brookfield, CT and moved to Berlin, Germany, where there was a Pan Am base. The two years we lived there were both interesting and historical, as you can imagine. After a year back in CT and the end of Pan Am on the horizon, Leland went to work at Delta Airlines and we moved to Georgia. Gregory and Grace, his wife of fifteen years, moved to Georgia a few years after us. Gregory is now the director of advertising for an Atlanta based magazine. Our daughter Laura recently graduated from the University of Georgia with a teaching degree in art. Through the years I have kept busy with bridge, art classes, traveling, cooking, reading and now boating, since Leland and I have settled on Lake Lanier, outside of Atlanta. With a few trips planned, Laura applying to graduate school and our second youngest daughter, Andrea, and her husband expecting a baby, we are staying busy. Retirement is treating us well! I guess the years have flown by because there was so much going on and because I have been so content as a wife and mother. Here's to many more happy years and another reunion!
