Louis J. Zezza

Looking back on my high school years, I did not plan to attend college.  It wasn’t until almost graduation that the Mechanical Drawing teacher, Eugene T. Misture, suggested that I attend Westchester Community College (WCC) in Valhalla, NY to pursue a career in mechanical drafting.  I graduated from WCC in 1959 with an Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology. My first drafting job in 1959 was at Paterson Moos Research in Jamaica, NY.  After a year with them, I accepted a job with the Nuclear Development Corporation of American (NDA) in White Plains, NY as a mechanical draftsman.  While working at NDA, besides meeting my present wife, Carol, I attended the evening division of the Engineering School at NYU for a couple of years.  Eventually, I became a mechanical designer, specializing in the design of fuel and associated maintenance equipment for nuclear power plants.  Presently, I work for Scientech, LLC (formerly Nuclear Energy Services) in New Milford, CT, where I have worked since 1973, as the Technical Director for the Engineered Products Group of Scientech, holding several patents in various types of equipment for nuclear applications. I have a son, Vincent (44) from my first marriage that ended in divorce in 1962.  In 1965, I married Carol Yozzo and we have been happily together for 41 years.  We have one son, Michael (33), and two daughters, Lori (30) and Cheryl (26).  Vincent gives us three grandsons and Michael a granddaughter.  Learning from my experience at A.B. Davis, Carol and I prepared our children and sent them all off to graduate from college:  Michael, Pace University/1997, Lori, UNC Wilmington/1997 and Cheryl, University of Delaware/2002.  Vincent did not attend college, but is a successful businessman, owning an auto body repair shop in Amityville, Long Island. After college, my parents moved back to the Bronx in 1959 where I lived for a couple of years, then I moved to Yonkers for a couple years more.  After my marriage to Carol, we lived in Spring Valley, NY (1965-69), Ossining, NY (1969-86) and Brookfield, CT (1986-present).  We recently sold our house in Brookfield and purchased a townhouse in Brookfield.  No immediate plans to retire since my job fulfills all my needs and Carol is happy to have time to spend with our 18-month-old granddaughter while our son Michael and his wife hold full-time jobs.
